LumiSource is a leading full-service supplier in the home furnishings industry, providing stylish and affordable furniture. I was lucky to have an opportunity to work with their design team to develop a modern chair for young adults.
Kota is designed to be fit in a small living area and can be separated into multiple small parts for a smaller packaging size. It is a combination of Scandinavian simplicity and ergonomic design, creating a subtle piece of furniture that can give users comfort.

Design
Kota is inspired by Scandinavian simplicity in furniture design. It has two laminated wooden legs and a connector piece attaching the seat and back cushions. The cushions are shaped by laminated wood inside, creating an ergonomic form to enhance comfort for users.

Assembly and Packaging
Kota can be separated into many small parts to fit in a shipping box, which could reduce shipping costs significantly. With a simple assembling mechanism, customers are able to put all those parts back together on their own.
