Teaching Experience
During my time at Georgia Tech, I served as a graduate teaching assistant for computational design classes across three semesters. The purpose of these courses was to introduce digital design fundamentals and have students work towards building the technical skills required for their next steps in the program. The curriculum specifically focused on video editing, interaction design, 3D sculpting, rendering, and animation.
I was primarily responsible for the computational design instruction and providing office hours assistance to students. In this role, I collaborated with Professor Timothy Purdy and Professor Kevin Brown on assignment drafting, grading, classroom instruction, critiques, and demonstrations. By assisting in these studio classes, I helped students master their digital workflows and translate their conceptual ideas into high-fidelity prototypes.
Chess Set Design and Animation
For this project, students were tasked with designing a cohesive chess set and producing a rendered animation showing the entire system in motion. This exercise required maintaining a consistent visual language while planning an animated sequence that demonstrated how the individual pieces interacted. I supported the professor's curriculum with hands-on technical guidance during studio time and during office hours.
3D Character Sculpting
This project focused on 3D sculpting, where students made simple character shapes to practice digital modeling. I worked with the professor to help students during class and held office hours for extra technical help. I also gave short mini-lectures on specific sculpting techniques to help them turn their drawings into 3D models.
Tutorial Videos
This project involved the production of instructional tutorial videos designed to help students develop foundational video editing skills and visual communication techniques. Working under the professor in charge, I focused on providing constructive feedback to help students refine their pacing and technical storytelling.
Interactive Device Prototyping
In this assignment, students made videos of interactive prototypes for devices like a Nintendo Switch or a handheld calculator. I helped the professor by troubleshooting technical problems in the students' files and giving feedback on their layouts. I also helped with the grading to make sure the work met the project requirements.
